  • Prof. Dr. Can Şımga Mugan

    Dean, Faculty of Business, Business Administration

    Dr. Simga-Mugan received her Ph.D. from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as a Fulbright Scholar, and B.S. and M.S. from İstanbul University. She has published various articles in international journals such as the European Accounting Review, the European Journal of Finance, Accounting Education, Emerging Markets Finance and Trade, Russian and East European Finance and Trade, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Journal of Business Ethics, Innovations in Education & Teaching International, Teaching Business Ethics and the International Journal of Accounting Research, and book chapters. She has also published in Hacettepe İdari Bilimler Fakültesi Dergisi, Muhasebe Enstitüsü Dergisi, Muhasebe Bilim Dünyası among others. The fifth edition of Principles of Financial Accounting that was co-authored with N.Hosal-Akman was published by McGraw Hill in 2012; and is adopted by several universities. She has also participated as an organizer, presenter and/or discussant at several international and national seminars. She has taught financial and managerial accounting both at graduate and undergraduate levels, in addition to doctoral level accounting theory and research courses.

    She worked at Istanbul University, Bilkent University, SUNY-University at Buffalo, and Middle East Technical University where she also served as the chair and the associate dean. She participated as expert financial consultant in the World Bank and KfW infrastructure projects. She is currently the Dean of Faculty of Business. 

  • Prof. Dr. Güray Küçükkocaoğlu

    Head, Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Business Administration Department

    Dr. Küçükkocaoğlu is a Professor of Finance, and Chairman of the Management Department- Faculty of Business Administration at Baskent University, Ankara. Part time instructor at Turkish Military Academy – Defense Sciences Institute – Ankara, and Yıldırım Beyazıt University – Social Sciences Institute – Ankara. Dr. Küçükkocaoğlu received his BSBA and MBA Finance degrees from Harmon College of Business Administration - Central Missouri State University- USA, Ph.D. degree from the Faculty of Political Sciences – Ankara University. He has published several articles in stock price manipulation, accounting manipulation, market microstructure, initial public offerings and capital structure topics. His main area of research is mainly in corporate finance, project finance and investments. He is serving as a referee to national and international journals of his field, such as Emerging Markets Review, Emerging Markets Finance and Trade, Global Journal of Economics and Finance, Banking Journal. Dr. Küçükkocaoğlu has advisory experience to the Expansion of the European Turkish Business Centres (BCs) Network Project, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Organization of Turkey.

  • Prof. Dr. Ramazan Aktaş

    TOBB University of Economics and Technology
    Head of Business Administration Department

    Dr. Aktaş graduated from Turkish Military Academy, business administration department in 1981. He completed MBA in METU in 1985 and his doctorate in Ankara University, Faculty of Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences in 1999.

    His main area of research is mainly financial management, financial markets, decision analysis, business management, entrepreneurship. His articles has published in many journals in Turkey and also in The Journal of Entrepreneurial Finance and Business Ventures, Eurasian Review of Economics and Finance, Annals of Financial Economics, The Icfai Journal of Applied Finance, Science Direct-Expert Systems with Applications.

    Dr. Aktaş is the author of the book “Creating a Leading Indicators and Financial Early Warning system for the Turkish Economy”. Also, he chaired many conferences and/or was a key note speaker, all around the world at the global events organized in different countries including Turkey.

  • Prof. Dr. Yıldız Özerhan

    Gazi University
    Deputy Dean, Faculty of Industrial Arts Education

    Dr. Özerhan received her barchelor’s degree in Gazi University, Faculty of Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences. She completed MBA Finance and her doctorate in in Gazi University, Faculty of Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences.

    Her main area of research is mainly in managerial accounting, cost accounting, financial statement analysis. She has published several articles both in Turkey and abroad about these area.

    Dr. Özerhan is the author of the books “Historical Development Process of Financial Statements in Turkey (1923-2008)” and “Analysis of Special Accounting Topics in Software Companies”.

  • Prof. Dr. Korkut Özkorkut

    Ankara Üniversitesi
    Faculty of Law, Department of Business Administration, Commercial Law Section

    Korkut Özkorkut started his university education at the Faculty of Law, Ankara University in 1985 and graduated in 1989. Thereafter he has completed his one-year law apprenticeship.
    He attended the Faculty of Political Sciences, Ankara University in 1992 as a Research Assistant of Commercial Law at the Department of Business Administration.

    He completed his master's degree in the field of Private Law (Commercial Law) in the Institute of Social Sciences, Ankara University in 1995.

    With his master thesis (Contestation of Resolutions of the Board of Directors in the Joint Stock Companies), he gained the first prize of "The Original Work Competition" 1995, arranged by the Capital Market Board and the Board published it as a book.

    He had his Ph.D in 2001 with his Dissertation, Depositary Receipts in the Turkish Law, in the above-mentioned Institute of Ankara University. His Dissertation was published as a book by the Istanbul Stock Exchange in 2003.

    Dr. Korkut Özkorkut was promoted as an Assistant Professor in 2004, as an Associate Professor in 2008 and as a Professor in 2013 at the same Faculty.

    In March 2005 he was appointed as Deputy Director of the Research Institute of Banking and Commercial Law which is the Foundation of Türkiye İş Bankası A.Ş.. He is now Editor in Chief of the Banking and Commercial Law Journal which is a refereed journal published by the Research Institute of  Banking and Commercial Law quarterly and cited in the Index to Foreign Legal Periodicals.

    Beside his academic duties he is still working as a legal consultant of the Union of Chambers of Certified Public Accountants and Sworn-in Certified Public Accountants of Turkey (TURMOB) and he also took part in the Justice Commission of The Grand National Assembly of Turkey, as a representative of TURMOB, which was established for the Draft Turkish Commercial Code.

    He also took part in some national and international projects; such as, contribution to Doing Business 2014 (World Bank); general legal assistance to support the EU Delegation (EUD) for Works contracts and tenders (As a Legal Expert) [European Union Delegation of Turkey]; preparation of a background note, “Bankruptcy in Turkey”, for the red tape chapter of the Turkey Investment Climate Study (World Bank).

    His main fields are arbitration, commercial, banking and capital market law. He has many books and articles on these fields.

    He is also attorney-at-law as a member of Ankara Bar.

  • Prof. Dr. Mustafa İsmail Kaya

    Gazi University
    Lecturer, Faculty of Law, Department of Business Administration, Commercial Law Section

    Mustafa Ismail Kaya is a law professor at the Gazi University in Ankara, where he teaches corporate and company law.

    He earned his LL.M program a magister and legal Ph.D. for lawyers in Germany. His specialty areas are corporate and company law. He worked as lawyer in Germany for one years, after completing his studies.

    Kaya wrote five books and over 15 articles about corporate and company law. He also works as an expert that testifies in court cases. He also consultants to companies on commercial law.

    He received a fellowship in 2012 from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and with this scholarship, went to Bonn, Brussels and Luxembourg where he discussed the future of the European Union with the participants of 28 European countries.
    Currently Dr. Kaya is studying “Leadership and Management in Higher Education” in the Washington DC area.

  • Prof. Dr. Coşkun Küçüksözmen

    Lecturer, Faculty of Business, Economics and Administrative Sciences Department

    Dr. Küçüközmen is a full time lecturer at the International Trade and Finance Department of Izmir University of Economics. Dr. Küçüközmen has started his official career at the Central Bank of Turkey in 1986. He was granted Jean Monnet study-award and received his MSc degree on banking from Loughborough University, UK in 1995. He wrote his thesis on deposit insurance. He then worked for the Deposit Insurance Department at the Central Bank of Turkey during 1996-1997. He was granted a scholarship from the Central Bank covering two-year research in 1997. He conducted his doctoral research at the Exeter University. He wrote his thesis on the distribution of equity returns and implications for value-at-risk (VaR) and awarded a PhD degree in 2000. He ran a banking course at the MBA program of Exeter University during his research. Upon completing his research he joined to the BRSA the supervisory body for Turkish banking system in 2000, shortly after its establishment and worked there as a deputy head of department of risk management. He also taught as a part-time lecturer at the Financial Mathematics Department of the Institute of Applied Mathematics in Middle East Technical University, Ankara since 2001. Dr Küçüközmen is also teaching at the FSI of BIS since 2003. He is lecturing on financial time series analysis, regulation and supervision of financial risks and energy trade and risk management. His interests include all aspects of empirical finance and financial econometrics, financial risk measurement, Basel-II and validation of internal models, market risk, hedge funds and energy risk management

  • Prof. Dr. Serap Sabahat Yanık

    Assist. Prof. Dr. Serap Sabahat Yanık received her barchelor’s degree in Gazi University, Faculty of Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences in 1987. She completed MBA Finance and her doctorate in in Gazi University, Faculty of Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences in 1999.

    She has published several articles in accounting, cost accounting, managerial accounting and financial statement analysis.
    Dr. Yanık is the author of the books “Accounting Control” and “Historical Development Process of Financial Statements in Turkey” (1923-2008)”

  • Assist. Prof. Dr. Zeki Yanık

    Assist. Prof. Dr. Zeki Yanık received her barchelor’s degree in Ankara University, Faculty of Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences in 1985. She completed MBA Finance in Ankara University, in 1974 and received her doctorate in in Gazi University, Faculty of Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences in 1994.

    She has published several articles in accounting, cost accounting, managerial accounting, tax accounting and financial statement analysis.
    Dr. Yanık has been a certified public accountant (CPA) since 1993.

  • Dr. Çağrı Bağatur

    Chair, Bagatur Law Office and Self- Employed Lawyer

    Born in 1963 in Ankara, Mehmet Çağrı Bağatur has graduated from Tarsus American College in 1981. He has received his bachelor’s degree in Ankara University, Faculty of Law in 1985 and completed his doctorate in Çukurova University, Faculty of Agriculture in the field of Agricultural Economics in 1999.

    Between the years of 1997 - 1998 Bağatur Law Office was established in Adana and since then he has been working within the framework of Bağatur Law Firm in Istanbul. The areas of expertise of Mehmet Çağrı Bağatur are law (advertisement, mergers and acquisitions, hospital management), information management (Non-Governmental Organizations, sales security) and total quality management.

  • Dr. Guler Manisali Darman

    Chair, Corporate Governance and Sustainability Center (CGS Center)

    Dr. Guler Manisali-Darman is a graduate of Management from METU-(Middle East Technical University) and has her PhD on Accounting and Finance from Baskent University in Turkey.
    Dr. Manisali-Darman was the Executive Director of ICC Turkish National Committee from 1980 to 1988. She then worked as the CFO and CEO of eminent groups in private sector. She set up her own advisory company, GMD Global Advisors Ltd. in 2005, She is the Founder, Chair of Corporate Governance and Sustainability Center (CGS Center) in Turkey.

    • She was the Vice-Chair of the Commission on Financial Services and Insurance, ICC
    • She served on the Finance Committee of the ICC which is a governing body.
    • Currently;
    • She is also Liaison Officer of American European Community Association- Brussels (AECA), in Turkey.
    • She is a Senator at the JCI (Junior Chamber International) International.
    • She is a member of the European Corporate Governance Institute (ECGI), and Corporate Governance Association of Turkey.
    • She sits on the Advisory Board of METU Technopolis Association - METUTECH-BAN.
    • She sits on the Advisory Board of the Faculty of Management, University of Turkish Aeronautical University.
    • She is a member of the Audit Committee of METU Development Foundation.
    • She is the independent board member and Vice Chair of Netmon A.S. which is the third biggest company on fiber optics industry in Turkey
    • She sits on the Editorial Advisory & Review Board of Emerald Book Series CSCRGS, in Leeds University

    Dr. Manisali-Darman also lectures on corporate governance in Middle East Technical University, and is the program coordinator of corporate governance in the TOBB University of Economics and Technology.

    She lectured on corporate governance as a visiting scholar, in Italy in a joint summer school program, on the invitation of Trieste University, West Minister University, and London School of Economics and Political Science, in 2005

    Dr. Manisali-Darman is the author of ICC book “Corporate Governance Worldwide” published in 2004 in Paris, and “Corporate Governance Practices in Global Economies and Turkey” published in Turkish by the ICC Turkish National Committee, in 2008, and the e-book Corporate Governance in family-owned companies published by the CGS Center in 2009. In addition, her last book "Transparency and Accountability at Corporate Governance" was published by TURMOB (Union of Chambers of Certified Public Accountants of Turkey) in 2010.
    She chaired many conferences and/or was a key note speaker, all around the world at the global events organized by ICC, Terrapinn, IQPC, IRR and Marcus Evans, in Middle East, China, Japan, South Africa, France-Paris, UK-London, Sweden-Stockholm, Norway-Oslo, Prague-Czech Republic, Dubai, Bahrain, and many other countries including Turkey.

    She is also a trainer and actively delivers seminars and workshops in corporate governance, corporate finance, analyzing financial statements, strategic management, balanced scorecard, risk management, business sustainability and enhancing managerial structures of family owned companies, and related topics.

    She is also a well-known expert in writing family constitutions, in family owned companies.

    Dr. Manisali-Darman who is recently elected to the ICC Group on Economic Policy (GEP) at ICC Paris, has devoted time and effort in raising awareness in good corporate governance practices at the national and global level.
