  • Prof. Dr. Can Şımga Mugan

    Dr. Simga-Mugan received her Ph.D. from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as a Fulbright Scholar, and B.S. and M.S. from İstanbul University. She has published various articles in international journals such as the European Accounting Review, the European Journal of Finance, Accounting Education, Emerging Markets Finance and Trade, Russian and East European Finance and Trade, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Journal of Business Ethics, Innovations in Education & Teaching International, Teaching Business Ethics and the International Journal of Accounting Research, and book chapters. She has also published in Hacettepe İdari Bilimler Fakültesi Dergisi, Muhasebe Enstitüsü Dergisi, Muhasebe Bilim Dünyası among others. The fifth edition of Principles of Financial Accounting that was co-authored with N.Hosal-Akman was published by McGraw Hill in 2012; and is adopted by several universities. She has also participated as an organizer, presenter and/or discussant at several international and national seminars. She has taught financial and managerial accounting both at graduate and undergraduate levels, in addition to doctoral level accounting theory and research courses.

    She worked at Istanbul University, Bilkent University, SUNY-University at Buffalo, and Middle East Technical University where she also served as the chair and the associate dean. She participated as expert financial consultant in the World Bank and KfW infrastructure projects. She is currently the Dean of Faculty of Business.

  • Prof. Dr. Erik P.M. Vermeulen

    Erik Vermeulen is Professor of Business and Financial Law at Tilburg University and Tilburg Law and Economics Center (TILEC). He is also Senior Counsel Corporate/Vice President at Philips International B.V. in the Netherlands. He has worked on projects related to corporate venturing and corporate venture capital. Philips’ anchor investment in a transatlantic venture capital fund through which it complements its long-term open innovation strategy in the healthcare sector is an illustrative example.

    Professor Vermeulen is also involved in the International Venture Club, a collaborative platform that aims to encourage ‘open innovation’ activities throughout the European Union by facilitating the building of partnership-type relationships among venture capital and other risk-capital investors, governments, corporations, universities and entrepreneurs.

  • Prof. Dr. Güray Küçükkocaoğlu

    Dr. Küçükkocaoğlu is a Professor of Finance, and Chairman of the Management Department- Faculty of Business Administration at Baskent University, Ankara. Part time instructor at Turkish Military Academy – Defense Sciences Institute – Ankara, and Yıldırım Beyazıt University – Social Sciences Institute – Ankara. Dr. Küçükkocaoğlu received his BSBA and MBA Finance degrees from Harmon College of Business Administration - Central Missouri State University- USA, Ph.D. degree from the Faculty of Political Sciences – Ankara University. He has published several articles in stock price manipulation, accounting manipulation, market microstructure, initial public offerings and capital structure topics. His main area of research is mainly in corporate finance, project finance and investments. He is serving as a referee to national and international journals of his field, such as Emerging Markets Review, Emerging Markets Finance and Trade, Global Journal of Economics and Finance, Banking Journal. Dr. Küçükkocaoğlu has advisory experience to the Expansion of the European Turkish Business Centres (BCs) Network Project, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Organization of Turkey.

  • Prof. Dr. Joseph A. McCahery

    Joseph A. McCahery is Professor of Corporate Governance and Business Innovation at the University of Amsterdam Faculty of Economics and Econometrics. He is also Professor of International Business Law at Tilburg University Faculty of Law. Professor McCahery is also a Research Fellow at the Institute of International Corporate Governance and Accountability, George Washington University and Research Associate at the European Corporate Governance Institute (ECGI) in Brussels. In addition to having held visiting positions at Leiden University, Tias Business School, he is also the Leo Goldschmidt Visiting Professor of Corporate Governance at Brussels University (ULB). He serves on the boards of several leading academic journals.
    Professor McCahery studied for his PhD in Law at Warwick University, where he taught until 1997. He has written widely on banking and securities law, corporate law, corporate governance, the political economy of federalism, and taxation. His publications have appeared in major academic journals, such as the Journal of Corporation Law, Georgetown Law Journal, and Journal of Corporate Law Studies, has published in a wide range of top academic journals.
    In addition to his academic activities, Professor McCahery is a consultant to the OECD, Centre for European Policy Studies and several financial institutions and research agencies. His consultancy activities involve corporate governance and securities regulation issues and M&A. He is currently co-director of the Amsterdam Center for Corporate Finance.

  • Prof. Dr. Murat Yülek

    Dr. Yülek is a professor of economics at Istanbul Commerce University. He has held high level executive responsibilities in financial institutions including CEO, director and chairman in financial and non-financial institutions. He is also a partner at PGlobal Global Advisory and Training Services Ltd, an Ankara based international advisory company. He has project, corporate finance and economic development experience in various countries in Europe, Africa, North America and Asia with tenures at institutions including the International Monetary Fund, the Islamic Development Bank and the Turkish Prime Ministry.
    He has taught at Georgetown and Yale Universities. Previously, he also served as Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration at THK University in Turkey. In the recent years, he has re-focused on industrial policy, economic planning and development based public procurement. The latter is a subject he is developing along with colleagues in Turkey, USA and Europe and involves suitable design of public procurement policies aiming at increasing the industrial capabilities and technological level in developing economies. He authored a number of books and articles in economics, development and finance. His most recent edited books on these subjects has been published by Springer, New York.
    He also writes columns at newspapers and financial journals and is a frequent speaker at various for a organized by institutions such as Global Economic Symposium, Yale University, Duke University, Prime Ministry of Turkey, COMCEC, Economic Cooperation Organization, Dubai Economic Council, CFO Forum-Vienna, The Economist Round Table, Wirtschaftsrat, Ewha Women’s University, Korean Institute for International Economic Policy. He is actively involved in the organization of Istanbul Finance Summit and Sarajevo Business Forum. He sits in the advisory boards of various other national and international institutions, platforms and academic journals.
    He holds an MBA degree from Yale University, Ph.D. and M.A. degrees from Bilkent University, an MSM (Management) degree from Boston University and a B.Sc. degree from Bogazici University.

  • Prof. Dr. Tamer Müftüoğlu

    Prof. Dr. Tamer Müftüoğlu, lisans eğitimini Köln Üniversitesi İktisadi ve Sosyal Bilimler Fakültesi İşletme Bölümü’nde tamamlamıştır. Türkiye Demir Çelik İşletmeleri Genel Müdürlüğü’nde planlama uzmanlığı ile iş hayatına başlamış, daha sonra Ankara Üniversitesi Siyasal Bilgiler Fakültesi’nde akademik hayata geçiş yapmıştır.

    1989 yılında Profesör ünvanını aldıktan sonra Türkiye Esnaf ve Sanatkarları Konfederasyonu, Başbakanlık Küçük ve Orta Boy İşletme danışmanlığı yapmıştır. Ardından sırasıyla, Türkiye Esnaf ve Sanatkarlar Araştırma Merkezi kuruculuğu ve yöneticiliği, Küçük ve Orta Ölçekli Sanayi Geliştirme ve Destekleme İdaresi başkanlığı, Türkiye Küçük ve Orta Ölçekli İşletmeler Serbest Meslek Mensupları ve Yöneticileri Vakfı yönetim kurulu başkanlığı, Vakıfbank KOBİ danışmanlığı, Rekabet Kurulu başkanlığı, Başkent Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü’nde enstitü müdürlüğü görevlerinde bulunmuştur. Halen TEB Bankası'nda KOBİ danışmanlığı yapmaktadır ve Başkent Üniversitesi İktisadi İdari Bilimler Fakültesi İşletme Bölümü yarı zamanlı öğretim üyesidir. 

    Aldığı ödüller arasında, WASME (World Association for Small and Medium Enterprises) (Uluslararası Küçük ve Orta Ölçekli İşletmeler Birliği) şeref madalyası ve özel onur ödülü, Dünya Gazetesi tarafından verilen “2000 yılının Bürokratı” ödülü, TÜSİAV tarafından verilen (Türk Sanayici ve İşadamları Vakfı ) “Yılın Bürokratı” ödülü, Para Dergisi tarafından 2000 yılının Bürokrasi dalında “Altın Adam”ı ödülü bulunmaktadır.

    Prof.Dr.M.Tamer MÜFTÜOĞLU’nun beş kitabı, editörlüğünü yaptığı altı kitap ile çeşitli dergilerde ve kitaplarda yayınlanmış yüzü aşkın makalesi vardır. Kendisi ayrıca çok sayıda toplantıya da konuşmacı ve oturum başkanı olarak katılmıştır.

  • Doç. Dr. Korkut Özkorkut

    Dr. Korkut Özkorkut started his university education at the Faculty of Law, Ankara University in 1985 and graduated in 1989. Thereafter he has completed his one-year law apprenticeship.
    He attended the Faculty of Political Sciences, Ankara University in 1992 as a Research Assistant of Commercial Law at the Department of Business Administration.
    He completed his master's degree in the field of Private Law (Commercial Law) in the Institute of Social Sciences, Ankara University in 1995.
    With his master thesis (Contestation of Resolutions of the Board of Directors in the Joint Stock Companies), he gained the first prize of "The Original Work Competition" 1995, arranged by the Capital Market Board and the Board published it as a book.
    He had his Ph.D in 2001 with his Dissertation, Depositary Receipts in the Turkish Law, in the above-mentioned Institute of Ankara University. His Dissertation was published as a book by the Istanbul Stock Exchange in 2003.
    Dr. Korkut Özkorkut was promoted as an Assistant Professor in 2004, as an Associate Professor in 2008 and as a Professor in 2013 at the same Faculty.
    In March 2005 he was appointed as Deputy Director of the Research Institute of Banking and Commercial Law which is the Foundation of Türkiye İş Bankası A.Ş.. He is now Editor in Chief of the Banking and Commercial Law Journal which is a refereed journal published by the Research Institute of  Banking and Commercial Law quarterly and cited in the Index to Foreign Legal Periodicals.
    Beside his academic duties he is still working as a legal consultant of the Union of Chambers of Certified Public Accountants and Sworn-in Certified Public Accountants of Turkey (TURMOB) and he also took part in the Justice Commission of The Grand National Assembly of Turkey, as a representative of TURMOB, which was established for the Draft Turkish Commercial Code.
    He also took part in some national and international projects; such as, contribution to Doing Business 2014 (World Bank); general legal assistance to support the EU Delegation (EUD) for Works contracts and tenders (As a Legal Expert) [European Union Delegation of Turkey]; preparation of a background note, “Bankruptcy in Turkey”, for the red tape chapter of the Turkey Investment Climate Study (World Bank).
    His main fields are arbitration, commercial, banking and capital market law. He has many books and articles on these fields.
    He is also attorney-at-law as a member of Ankara Bar.

  • Saleh Hussain

    Saleh Hussain is a Bahraini National with a Master Degree in Business from Brunel University in the United Kingdom. He has over 35 years of experience in various banking fields in the region as well as Europe and Asia Pacific.

    He started his banking career in Bahrain in 1970 with British Bank of the Middle East (currently HSBC) and later joined the Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait. He then went on to join Grindlays Bank where he worked for almost nine years. In 1981 he joined The Saudi National Commercial Bank Group, first managing their affiliate, Arab Asian Bank Bahrain and became a General Manager of The Saudi National Commercial Bank till 2005. Mr. Hussain also served as Regional Head of The National Commercial Bank, Corporate Banking Group in Eastern Province; Dammam, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, from 2005 until 2007.

  • Waheed Quaiser

    Waheed Qaiser is the Vice Chairman of Maxim Corporate Finance LLP; and he is a renowned conventional and Islamic banker and he is a highly respected expert in investment banking, corporate finance and business management. Waheed has been a banking start-up professional, a business leader, a management trainer in banking and he has extensive banking turn-around experience.

    Waheed has held executive management positions in global banks such as Citibank, UBS, HSBC, Islamic Investment Banking Unit and Islamic Bank of Britain spanning over two decades.  He has had a diversified career for a number of years at in senior roles around the world including Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Al-Ain (UAE), Abu Dhabi and London. His banking experience spans over areas such as: operations, branch management, risk, credit, business development, relationship management, consumer banking, private banking. 

    Waheed’s other achievements include: being a founding member Bank of England working party that helped slash the double stamp duty for Islamic mortgages in the UK, a founding member of UK technical group for Islamic finance qualifications at Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments. He has co-authored a book on Islamic banking published by Euro-money. He is the founder, CEO and Chairman designate for a bank in another major European country that has now applied for a banking license.

    Waheed has had significant media exposure and appeared in a lot of the Print and TV media. Waheed has often been referred to as a champion in Islamic banking and he is highly reputed for his all rounded expertise in corporate finance, project finance, trade finance and consumer banking management.
